Giving back.
Community legacies are built where a cycle of economic mobility, education, and safety can be found. We provide cultural competency training designed to give our team fluency as they work in historically neglected neighborhoods. And we reduce crime rates, fire hazards, lead poisoning, and asbestos contamination levels by completing projects with the highest safety standards in the industry.
It’s all in an effort to create a community legacy, cultivate generational prosperity, and build collective futures.
COMMUNITY
INITIATIVES.
FEED Detroit
Gayanga Co. partnered with the City of Detroit Parks & Recreation Department and FEED Detroit, a Detroit-based nonprofit to serve 1,000 Thanksgiving meals across the city. We hosted meal events at 4 different community centers: Adams Butzel Recreation Complex, Farewell Recreation Center, Kemeny Recreation Center, and Joseph Walker Williams Center on Wednesday, November 27th. We also packed and distributed meals from They Say on Thursday, November 28th. Thank you to all of our volunteers and sponsors!
Halloween in the D
Gayanga Co. partnered with the City of Detroit and other demolition contractors to donate thousands of candy packages for Detroit’s Halloween in the D candy distribution events.
Find Your Future
Gayanga Co. has partnered with Strategic Community Partners and United Way to be involved in various career fairs for Detroit youth. In November 2018, Gayanga attended the Find Your Future Career Exploration Fair and set up activity booths about skilled trades and engineering career pathways. Our CEO, Brian McKinney, spoke to over 1,500 incoming freshmen from 22 DPSCD high schools about how he grew up in Detroit and created opportunities for himself in the city.
Gayanga Co. was a partner company for the United Way Summer Career Connections Fair. 750 DPS youth and incoming GDYT participants were invited to learn about job opportunities and career pathways.
